Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in Berlin

Founded in 1911, the Tokyo Philharmonic is Japan’s oldest and largest orchestra, with approximately 130 musicians.
On 28th October 2025, the orchestra will begin its European tour, which will visit eight cities: Berlin, Budapest, Antwerp, Toulouse, Barcelona, Vienna, Lugano, and Düsseldorf. The world-renowned conductor Myung-Whun Chung, Honorary Music Director of the Tokyo Philharmonic, along with Makoto Ozone, an exceptional jazz pianist who has also earned acclaim for his classical performances, will perform with the orchestra at the Philharmonie. The programme will feature Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (piano: Makoto Ozone), and Prokofiev’s Excerpts from ballet Romeo and Juliet.
